As we live our lives daily, we have a choice to walk in the light of God’s love as we repent and believe in the good news of God’s saving grace, or we can walk in the flesh, rejecting the light and stumble in darkness.

At times it can seem like the wicked aren’t really suffering, but enjoying the pleasures of life and prospering. But when calamity strikes they have nowhere to turn. They search within themselves yet come up empty.

The difference between the godly and the wicked is the difference between light and darkness. Those who repent of their wicked deeds and ways and seek God’s forgiveness, grace and mercy and believe in His name will receive eternal life. The light of God will shine in and through them. In Christ we become children of light

Ephesians 5:8-9 ESV
[8] for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light [9] (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),

Walking as children of light gives us direction for the path we are on as our heavenly Father guides us. The light of God’s word illuminates our way within us as we seek him daily, and around us as we go about our daily lives, interacting with others. We are able to love our neighbors as ourselves and live out the golden rule of doing unto others as we would have them do unto us, because of the light of God illuminating our soul

Walking as children of light keeps us from wandering around with no direction and gives us wisdom and discernment as we make our daily choices and decisions.

Walking as children of light, we become the light of the world, glorifying God in the way that we live, love and serve Him and others, especially our enemies. His light shines within us, lighting, not only our own way, but providing light to lost, dark souls. When we encounter those who are stumbling in darkness and reach out to them with love and serve them, we can spread His light, like one candle lighting another, before their light is snuffed out (Proverbs 13:9)

Matthew 5:14-16 ESV
[14]  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. [16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
