When we willfully and prayerfully seek to follow God’s word, to walk in His commandments and His ways, we will be at peace within ourselves.
So often when we lie down at night to rest, we toss and turn because of the day that has just passed. The choices and decisions we make throughout the day may leave us grieving within our own heart and mind. Instead of sleep and rest, we lie awake pondering and worrying, holding onto anger, bitterness and rage.
Yet as God promised the Israelites, so He will keep in perfect peace, all of those who trust in Him and put His Kingdom first.
Instead of spending our days and nights worrying about all of your problems, let it go as you lie down to rest. Give it to the Lord in prayer. Forgive those who have sinned against you and make it a priority to seek the forgiveness of others you may have sinned against. As much as you are able to, live at peace with all people. Dwell together in love and unity.
Every morning, start your day in prayer, giving your life and your will to God in humble submission to Him. Then you will walk in His ways, keeping His word, and when you do commit sin, you’ll be aware of it, seek forgiveness, and move on. This is repentance and sanctification in action in our lives. As you daily submit to God, He will transform you by the renewing of your mind. By the time your head hits your pillow at the end of your day, you will not be fretting against the Lord, you won’t be stewing in the day’s events or worrying about tomorrow, which will bring its own concerns and priorities.
Getting a good night’s sleep is a gift from God and is so important for living a healthy and productive lifestyle.
Morning, noon and at night, give it to the Lord in prayer, and His peace which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind, in Christ Jesus!
Amen!
Leviticus 26:3-7 ESV
[3] “If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, [4] then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. [5] Your threshing shall last to the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last to the time for sowing. And you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely. [6] I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. And I will remove harmful beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land. [7] You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
