Shine!

‭‭Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV‬‬
[14] “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  [15] Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

‭‭John 8:12 NKJV‬‬
[12] Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Disciples, aka followers of Christ, shine as Christ lives His life in and through them. It is not our religion or our own good works done  in the flesh that glorify God,  it’s His love (the light of life) manifested in us, as we deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him.

It is through humility, as we humble ourselves in His sight, that we receive the light of life. We are then enabled by Him to faithfully obey the great commandment to love Him with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love others as ourselves as He did and commands His followers to.

When we follow Christ through humble submission to His will and Lordship, we become the “light of the world” and our good works become visible to others, as the fruit of the Spirit propels us forward in the will of God and redemption plan for the world 🌍
