I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
Psalm 18:1-3 ESV

So often we think of our enemies as other people who are out to get us, trip us up or cause us harm. But God’s word tells us…
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
These outside forces toy with my inner being and attempt to invade my inner peace and occupy my mind. My mind is the battlefield where this war between fiesh and spirit is waged. These battles cannot, therefore, be fought in the flesh, but in the Spirit. When I’m filled with and walking in the Spirit, I will not carry out the desires of my fiesh, which is controlled by my sinful human nature. I need to have Christ on the throne of my heart, so that I’m not the one ruling my life and mind, which are easily influenced by feelings and emotions, which lead to wrongful desires and selfish goals and ambitions.
