Seeds of bitterness and wrath

The key elements of bitterness are unresolved anger, the inability to grieve, and a lack of control: Unresolved anger – Ephesians 4:26 says that we can be angry without sinning. But when anger is unresolved and allowed to stick with us, it turns into bitterness.

Bad things happen to all of us; things like injustice, unfairness, being misunderstood and/or taken advantage of, etc. But the Bible tells us that vengeance belongs to God, and he will repay. It is tempting to take matters into my own hands and get even. The thoughts of such action on my part are overwhelming at times. But I must give it over to God, if I am to walk in peace and be free of feelings and emotions that can take root and grow into sinful behavior. Anger can breed bitterness and wrath, and overtake my better judgement. I don’t have to be controlled by my emotions, when I walk in the spirit.

Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
Ephesians 4:26‭-‬27 ESV
